Actors Meezaan Jafri, Mouni Roy, and Harshvardhan Rane are set to front the cast of filmmaker Sanjay Gupta’s next directorial venture. Known for helming such blockbuster gangster films as Kaante (2002), Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), and Shootout at Wadala (2013), the filmmaker is set to explore a new genre as his next is a sports drama.
While Gupta finalised Harshvardhan Rane some time ago, he has now roped in Meezaan Jafri and Mouni Roy to round off the cast. The filmmaker will begin pre-production work on the untitled film in January as the team is looking at rolling in February.
Harshavardhan Rane, who was last seen in Haseen Dillruba (2021) alongside Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey, will start shooting for the sports drama after wrapping up his on-going project Ambush which is billed as an out-and-out actioner.
For Meezaan Jafri, the sports drama will mark his third outing after Malaal (2019) and Hungama 2 (2021). Mouni Roy will call a wrap on Milan Luthria's streaming show Delhi Sultanate before joining the sets of Gupta’s directorial.
On production front, Sanjay Gupta recently confirmed that he is set to produce a biopic on India’s most controversial bar dancer, Sweety. He is also working on Visfot, starring Riteish Deshmukh and Fardeen Khan in lead roles.
