Buzz has it that award-winning actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has signed on to topline the Hindi remake of the successful Punjabi film Kala Shah Kala (2019). Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, the original film featured Binnu Dhillon, Sargun Mehta, Jordan Sandhu, Karamjit Anmol, and Shehnaaz Kaur Gill in lead roles.
A publication reports that Siddiqui liked the story of the film and has agreed to be part of it. “Nawazuddin Siddiqui has really liked the story and has agreed to be part of the project. The paperwork and other formalities will be finalised soon. The film is expected to go on floors in 2022, and the makers are presently working on finalising the dates and other logistics. Meanwhile, the leading lady is yet to be finalised,” a source in the know informs the publication.
Made on a shoestring budget, Kala Shah Kala turned out to be a huge money-spinner upon its release in 2019 as it went on to rake in approximately ₹19 crores before wrapping its run at the ticket window. It will be interesting to see if the remake manages to replicate the success of the original film or not.
Meanwhile, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has a number of interesting films in his hand. Some of his upcoming films include Bole Chudiyan, Jogira Sara Ra Ra, Sangeen, Adbhut, Tiku Weds Sheru, and Heropanti 2. Bole Chudiyan marks the directorial debut of his brother.
