After much delay, Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film Jersey' is finally set to hit the theaters on April 22. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film is a Hindi remake of the 2019 Telugu blockbuster of the same name. Jersey is directed by Allu Arvind and produced jointly by Dil Raju, S Naga Vamsi and Gill.

However, the film faced multiple hiccups. While it was earlier stated to hit theatres on April 14, the release again got pushed to April 22, 2022.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywoodmdb.com, Shahid says that he is unperturbed by the long wait. "Even Jersey (the film) is all about waiting. The main protagonist Arjun Talwar waits for the right time for things to fall into place. He never loses hope or gives up. Questioning his mundane existence, he decides to give it a toss and starts living on his own terms. So yes, delay is destiny and it should be taken positively."

The Mausam (2011) actor admits that Jersey has a very powerful message and the climax simply blew him away.

"The story is very endearing. It is something every person will relate to. After seeing Jersey, viewers will realise that it is not only the aggresive, testosterone-charged heroes who can entertain- a family oriented, relatable hero can be an equally good entertainer. And I'm eagerly waiting for the audiences to feel the same."

When asked to compare his life journey with that of his onscreen character in Jersey, Shahid says that he felt very small in front of Arjun Talwar and his struggles. He further adds that the trials and tribulations that his character faces in the movie are too grave than the ones he faced personally.

After Shandaar, Shahid again reunites with his father Pankaj Kapur in Jersey. However, he denies being nervous around his father on the sets.

"I didn't feel nervous at all because he's someone from whom I've learnt so much. His professionalism his simplicity, his humility of approaching every film like it's his first. These are some of his most amazing and admirable qualities," said Shahid before signing off.
