Bollywood had a difficult year at the box office last year. After a number of theatrical releases, only a few succeed in gathering numbers and winning the hearts of the public. KGF 2, Kantara, Vikram, and Ponniyin Selvan are among those from the South. The only blockbuster Bollywood films are Brahmastra, Bhool Bhulaiya, and The Kashmir Files. Previously, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri chastised Bollywood for "not learning" from the success of unappreciated films such as his own The Kashmir Files and Kannada feature Kantara.
Director Vivek Agnihotri isn't afraid to voice his opinions and points of view. Whether it's about politics or the film industry, the filmmaker always has something to say. The director has once again trolled Bollywood, this time by tweeting an article about prominent movie stars who ask high prices yet cannot guarantee a good release.

The article discussed how superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan is an exception in an otherwise mediocre year for Hindi cinema. While Ajay Devgn and Tabu's Bholaa and Ranbir Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor's romantic comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar did okay at the box office, other big-ticket releases such as Kartik Aaryan's Shehzada and Akshay Kumar-Emraan Hashmi's Selfiee did not.
Sharing the article on his Twitter post, he wrote, “Bollywood is in bad shape. Again. Seems as if the entire industry is happy giving unrealistic and exorbitant fees to stars who can’t even guarantee an opening. Most money is wasted in vanity and lifestyle of stars. What’s going wrong?”
