Naseeruddin Shah, a veteran actor, has revealed in his memoir titled 'And Then One Day' that he was once stabbed by an actor friend named Jaspal in 1977, while he was shooting for his film 'Bhoomika'.
Shah and his friend Om Puri were having dinner at a restaurant when Jaspal entered. Shah and Jaspal had previously shared a strained relationship, and Shah ignored him when he entered the restaurant. Suddenly, Shah felt a sharp punch in the middle of his back.
When he turned around, he saw Jaspal holding a small knife, its point dripping blood. Jaspal raised the knife to strike again, but Om Puri and two others intervened and subdued him.
Shah was rushed to a hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. Jaspal later visited Shah at his home and tried to explain that the attack was not personal, but Shah has not disclosed any further details about the incident or his relationship with Jaspal.
The incident is a shocking reminder of the dark side of the entertainment industry. It is also a testament to the strong friendship between Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri, who risked his own life to save his friend.
