Actress and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt recently revealed that her original choice for the lead role in the 2003 film Jism opposite John Abraham was none other than Sunny Leone. However, due to professional commitments at the time, Sunny couldn't be a part of the project, eventually leading to the casting of Bipasha Basu.
Pooja shared this interesting anecdote during an interview, shedding light on how the decision unfolded. Pooja explained, "I wanted to cast Sunny Leone in 'Jism' part 1. Before meeting Bipasha (Basu), I had read about Sunny Leone. A publication had written a small snippet on her, it said, 'people to watch out for,' and had Sunny Leone's picture in it."
Pooja said that she was impressed by Sunny's looks and felt that she would be perfect for the role. However, Sunny was unavailable at the time due to her commitments to the adult film industry. Pooja said, "I had reached out to her, but she was not available. She was doing a lot of work in the West at that time."
Ultimately, Pooja decided to cast Bipasha Basu in the role. Bipasha was a successful model and actress at the time, and she brought a lot of star power to the film. 'Jism' was a commercial success, and it helped to launch Bipasha's career as a leading lady in Bollywood.
