Farah grabbed these images and handed them to Shah Rukh, telling him, "She's the face. "I discovered the face".”

Deepika continued further saying, “They were seeking for a new face and, mind you, a double role of one character who is like the old world Bollywood heroine Hema Malini or Wahida Rehman, and the other role was this young Indian modern woman. She took the images to Shah Rukh without auditioning or meeting me." Deepika further stated that SRK asked Farah if she was okay with her decision, and the next thing she knew, she was working with India's biggest superstar Shah Rukh Khan and one of India's biggest female filmmakers in her debut Bollywood film, without auditioning.”

Deepika has never looked back since the film was a great commercial hit. She collaborated with Farah Khan on another film, Happy New Year, which was also a big success.
