Shah Rukh made a triumphant return to the big screen with ‘Pathaan’ after a four-year absence. ‘Pathaan’, starring Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan, swept Bangladesh on May 12, the day it was eventually released there. Since Bangladesh's independence in 1971, no Hindi film had received a complete release in theatres there before ‘Pathaan’ made history. Several stories claim that the gigs were completely sold out before the album was even released. Videos of Bangladeshi fans dancing in theatres to ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’ have recently appeared online.

Reports state that ‘Pathaan’ premiered on May 12 in 41 theatres across Bangladesh. The two-day advance tickets for the specified halls were reportedly sold out even before they were released. Earlier, Nelson D'Souza from Yash Raj Films had issued the following statement: “Cinema has always been a unifying force between nations, races, and cultures. It transcends borders, galvanizes people, and plays a significant hand in bringing people together. We are incredibly thrilled that Pathaan, which has done historic business worldwide, will now get a chance to entertain audiences in Bangladesh.”
Bangladeshi theatres once experimented with showing ‘Wanted’, a Hindi movie starring Salman Khan. There was little interest in it. After that, in 2017, representatives of the Bangladeshi film industry protested the screening of Hindi films in Bangladesh. Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Pathaan’ will be the first Hindi film to be shown in Bangladesh once more. According to sources, the Bangladeshi government is permitted to show 10 Hindi films annually.
