R Madhavan is currently gearing up for his directorial debut, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. The actor travelled extensively to promote the film, going everywhere from the Cannes Film Festival to Times Square in the United States. In a recent interview, R Madhavan discussed his journey and responded to rumours that Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001) might be remade.
In response to rumours that his 2001 film masterpiece RHTDM is getting a remake, the 3 Idiots (2009) actor responded in a brief statement, “I wish them all the very best.”
When asked if he is excited about it, the actor said, “I think it’s foolishness, and that’s my opinion. I wouldn’t want to touch that. I wouldn’t do it as a producer. I wish them all the very best from the bottom of my heart, I do. And I hope they are surprised because nothing in the industry can actually be predicted but it has a lot of memories attached to it for a lot of people."
“For the audiences, it is more than a movie. It is sort of an anthem in some ways. It’s like almost saying that 15 years from now you want to remake 3 Idiots. I don’t think it’s a sensible… let me just put it again - I think it’s a brave decision,” added the 52-year-old actor.
Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and produced by Vashu Bhagnani, starred R Madhavan, Dia Mirza, and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles.
