Radhika Madan to romance Akshay Kumar in the Hindi remake of Suriya starrer Soorari Pottru?
For a long time, Bollywood has been seeing the trend of remaking South hits. We have various South films that have been recreated in Bollywood and have been huge hits here, ranging from Ajun Reddy (2017) to RX100 (2018). Surprisingly, a new film is about to enter the battle. Suriya starrer 2020 film Soorarai Pottru, which was highly praised by the audience, mainly for Suriya's performance, is set to be remade in Hindi. The film will star Akshay Kumar in the shoes of Suriya.
While fans wait for a formal announcement, Radhika Madan has been cast as the female lead in the Soorarai Pottru adaptation, according to a recent update. She'll apparently be filling in for Aparna Balamuralia, who played Suriya’s wife in the film. A source informed Mid Day, “The film is in pre-production stage, with the director having reportedly set the adaptation in western India. In all likelihood, Radhika will play a woman from rural Maharashtra. She will have to learn a specific dialect before the film goes on floors”. In the Hindi version of Soorarai Pottru, the Shiddat (2021) actress will play a rural woman.
Sudha Kongara, who directed the original, will direct the Hindi adaptation as well.
Soorarai Pottru is based on the life of G.R. Gopinath, the founder of Simplifly Deccan (previously known as Air Deccan), who created the country's first low-cost airline.
