Rajkummar Rao's Omerta clocks 4 years; Hansal Mehta hails actor’s power-packed performance

There is no denying the fact that Rajkummar Rao is one of the most talented actors working in Bollywood. He has a number of award-winning films to his credit, including Omerta, which has clocked 4 years of its release.
Rao stunned everyone with his riveting performance in the film, which explores the 1994 kidnappings of Westerners in India. The thriller drama earned rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Coming fresh out of the critical and commercial success of Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Bareilly Ki Barfi and Amit V. Masurkar’s Newton, Rajkummar Rao played the character of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh in Omerta.
As the biographical crime-drama clocks four years today, filmmaker Hansal Mehta took to his social media handle and heaped praises on the National Film Award-winning actor.
“4 years ago, we had an apologetic release for a film that was rediscovered on OTT during the pandemic. It was a film that weathered many a storm because of our resolve to see it through. For me this performance of rajkummar_rao stands right up there among his top 3. The stunning cinematography by anujdhawan13, the edit by late Aditya Warrior, the absolutely brilliant sound design by mandarjkulkarni my constant partner in crime, terrific casting by castingchhabra and music by ishaanchhabra90 were truly special - particularly because they were working with least resources and very poor production support. Will always cherish the experience of making it and will never forget the struggle of getting it made,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao has a number of projects at various stages of development. While he awaits the release of his upcoming films, HIT: The First Case, Monica, Oh My Darling, and Bheed, he is also set to headline Raj and DK’s upcoming streaming show Guns and Gulaabs.
