Ranbir Kapoor's year at the movies was the busiest he's had in a while. His period action drama Shamshera was finally released in July after a four-year absence, while his epic fantasy feature Brahmastra is gearing for release. Shamshera didn't work at the box office, unfortunately. Many people believed that the boycott demands and the overall disapproval of Bollywood had an impact on the movie. When Ranbir was asked why the films have been failing at the box office and if it was because of the boycott Bollywood trend.
Ranbir Kapoor speaks about Shamshera’s failure at the box office
The actor said that he would like to talk about other films but will mention his Shamshera which was released a month ago. He further added, "If the film didn't run at the box office, it's only because the audience didn't like the film. Eventually, it's about the content. If you make a good film, entertain people will go to the cinema and watch your films. They want to feel that different emotion, connect with characters, and get entertained. So, if a film doesn't work, it is not for any other reason but because the content is not good. That's what I feel is the true answer.”
The Brahmastra team is doing everything in their capability to promote their movie despite growing calls for a boycott. A lot of social media users recently found an old clip of Ranbir Kapoor admitting he enjoyed beef. Due to this, Ayan, Ranbir, and Alia were not permitted to enter a shrine in Ujjain.
Brahmastra will hit the big screens on September 9. Helmed by Ayan Mukerji, the film features some of the biggest names in the film industry including Nagarjuna, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, and Mouni Roy.
