Ranbir Kapoor, an actor, has heaped appreciation on stars Sanjay Dutt, Shah Rukh Khan, and Ranveer Singh who have played antagonistic parts in movies. In the latest episode of RK tapes posted by Yash Raj Films on Twitter, Ranbir discussed how Hindi film villains have often received the same love and adoration as the movie's "hero." He also praised the "villains" in Mr. India, Sholay, and Agneepath.
Ranbir spoke about famous Bollywood villains saying, "Shah Rukh said KKK...Kiran registered his name in one of the most iconic roles as a villain. All the villains in the Dhoom franchise stunned everyone, it's unbelievable. In Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh made Alauddin Khilji so terrifying, that even after the film ends, the character stays with you. And what do I even say about Sanjay Dutt? I think he's one of the best villains in recent times. The ultimate khalnayak (antagonist), who's coming back as a villain in Shamshera. A part of me is envious, I'd have loved to do that role.”
Further revealing his love for villains, the actor says he would love to play a negative role. He jokingly said, “I want people to tell their kids soja varna Ranbir ajaega.” He also added, "As the cinema is evolving, the characters of the villains are also becoming interesting and complex. I am looking forward to the bad guys we are yet to watch, to the actors who scare us out of our seats, and to the villains who redefined evil."
Ranbir Kapoor will next appear in Shamshera which is directed by Karan Malhotra. The film also features Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. The flick is slated to release in theatres on July 22, 2022.
