The biggest superhero film to be produced in India was announced earlier this year by Sony Pictures International and Mukesh Khanna's Bheeshm International. The 1990s superhero Shaktimaan is going to be revived as a franchise, and production has already begun on it.It is touted to be a trilogy. According to reports, Ranveer Singh has been offered the role of the Indian superhero in the movie while the makers are looking for a suitable actor.
Sources claim that Shaktimaan has been offered to Ranveer, who has expressed a strong interest in taking the role. He hasn't, however, really signed the movie on the dotted line yet. Currently, Ranveer is finishing up Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani alongside Alia Bhatt. A source was cited saying, "Ranveer has shown a keen interest in playing Shaktimaan, the Indian superhero. The makers too feel that Ranveer can bring a natural charisma to the superhero character, who was first introduced in 1997. Talks are on with the actor and the team."
Mukesh Khanna played the title character Shaktimaan and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Omkarnath Shastri, a photojournalist for the newspaper Aaj Ki Aawaz, in the film The Unknown. On DD National, the show aired from 1997 to 2005. Later, in 2011, an animated television series and a television movie were both released.
