The director known as the "king of humor and action" is Rohit Shetty. While his delightfully designed ‘Golmaal’ trilogy has won our hearts, the director also has a following for his action comedies. But not every movie connects with the audience. The same thing occurred with his most recent film, ‘Cirkus’, which had Ranveer Singh in the lead role. The comedy-drama's box office performance was a complete failure. However, Rohit Shetty took full responsibility for the movie's poor performance and refused to place the blame elsewhere. The director asserted there was no "shying away" from failures during a media encounter.
While promoting the 13th season of his popular stunt television series ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’, Rohit Shetty discussed ‘Cirkus' failure. He believed that being surrounded by upright people taught him to accept both achievement and failure. “I make sure to surround myself with people who are honest with me. So, when a film doesn’t do well, I know it. Hence, I have always believed that both my successes and failures are mine. There is no point shying away from it,” he said.
Rohit Shetty provided evidence for his claim by saying that while he takes responsibility for ‘Golmaal’ and Singham's successes, he equally readily acknowledges the failure of ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Cirkus’. He steadfastly refused to blame anyone else but himself. “I don’t see a point in blaming anything else. I know what we did. We, obviously, went wrong somewhere. It was made right after ‘Sooryavanshi’ and in the middle of the pandemic for the workers. It was a small film meant for the audience of that time,” he added.
Despite having a star-studded cast that included Deepika Padukone in a cameo and Ranveer Singh, Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Varun Sharma, and Johnny Lever, ‘Cirkus’ did not have much of an impact on the general public. But there is no denying Rohit Shetty's skill as a director. In his lengthy career, he has produced hit films including the ‘Golmaal’ and Simbaa series and the ‘Chennai Express’ movie starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
