Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s, ‘Baiju Bawra’ starring Alia Bhatt & Ranveer Singh to go on floors in the second half of 2023

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one such director who has produced some of the best and most iconic works of art for Indian cinema. He is one of the most adored directors, and his next films consistently generate a lot of buzzes. In fact, the unconventional director just released the first look of Heeramandi, a web series supported by Netflix, which attracted a lot of attention. The series features some of the popular faces of Bollywood including Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chaddha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Aditi Rao Hydari. In the meantime, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has begun work on his next film, Baiju Bawra, which stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, while Heeramandi is now shooting its final segment in Mumbai.

A source who is close to the project revealed, “Mr. Bhansali has been working on the subject for a while because it is very personal to him, and he has already written a compelling script for the movie. But, preparation for the shoot has also started because he intends to start filming Baiju Bawra in the middle of this year. They are looking at either June or July. His actors have already received requests for dates. As the final dates are decided, the building of the sets will start on the Mumbai sets where a significant amount of the movie will be shot.”

After Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will work together again on Baiju Bawra, it also marks the director's fourth film with Ranveer (after Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat). On the other hand, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, the second collaboration of Alia and Ranveer Singh, is scheduled to open worldwide on July 28, 2023.
