Sara Ali Khan is quite excited about her forthcoming film Atrangi Re. She started shooting for the Aanand L Rai directorial on March 1, 2020, two weeks after the release of her much-talked-about film Love Aaj Kal. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Love Aaj Kal failed to live up to the high expectations of the audience, and now Khan thanks her stars for landing her on the sets of Atrangi Re within two weeks of facing the rejection and failure.
Talking to a publication, the actress said that Atrangi Re was one positive thing that happened to her in 2020. “The one positive thing to have happened in 2020 to me was Atrangi Re. I am thankful for even that 15-days schedule we had in March. Love Aaj Kal came on February 14 and I started shooting for Atrangi Re from March 1. Within these two weeks of the rejection and failure that I had faced, I was on another film set with very high stakes and I had to prove. I had to go over there and fall in love and feel confident with myself, with Rinku and the film, and go out there and kill it,” she said.
The actress went on to add that those 15 days of shooting Atrangi Re in 2020 gave her enough to pull her through the lockdown. “Those 15 days gave me enough to pull me through the lockdown. And just when I could not take it anymore, Aanandji came to me with “Chaka Chak”. The only thing worth living for in 2020 was Atrangi Re, beside my family,” she concluded.
Also starring Akshay Kumar and Dhanush in lead roles, Atrangi Re premieres on Disney+ Hotstar on December 24, 2021.
