Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most famous people in the movie industry, and he has been called one of the best stars of all time. His fame is like no other, and what he has done for films is amazing. Srk's first role in a movie almost didn't happen because he couldn't sign the contract for the movie that would start his career.

Shah Rukh Khan had already agreed to work on five other projects when he was asked to do his first movie. These films were 'Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman,' 'Chamatkar,' 'Dil Aashna Hai,' 'Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa,' and 'King Uncle.' But none of them had been shown in theatres before 'Deewana,' which was his first movie.

Guddu Dhanoa, the producer of 'Deewana,' told the Times of India in 2021 that Armaan Kohli was meant to play the main role in the movie when it was first made. But Armaan had to leave both projects because he was in another movie that Dhanoa's friend was making. Because of this turn of events, Shekhar Kapur suggested casting Shah Rukh Khan in the lead part. Khan was already well-known for his work in TV shows like 'Circus' and 'Fauji.'

Then, Guddu Dhanoa called Shah Rukh Khan, who lived in Delhi at the time, and asked him to meet up. When Dhanoa first saw Khan, he didn't know who he was, but he was quickly impressed. He told the director of 'Deewana,' Raj Kanwar, "Hero done hai" (which means "we have our hero").

When Shah Rukh Khan read the story for 'Deewana,' he was immediately interested in the movie. However, he told the team that he could only do it if one of his other projects fell through. Khan told Dhanoa, "I don't have any dates." Even though there were problems, the 'Deewana' team was eager to cast him and paid him Rs 1.5 lakh to do so.

Shah Rukh Khan was excited to be in 'Deewana' because he was a huge fan of the film's senior star, Rishi Kapoor. Khan was happy to work with Kapoor, even though they only had three scenes together in the movie. He was lucky because 35 days of filming for 'Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman' were cancelled, and he told Dhanoa's team right away. Because of this, they were able to move forward with 'Deewana.' The rest, as they say, is history. When a handsome young guy with dimples sang 'Koi Na Koi Chahiye, Pyaar Karne Waala', India found its biggest superstar.
