Shilpa Shetty recalls what Shah Rukh Khan said to her on the first day of Baazigar shoot
Shilpa Shetty is making her Bollywood comeback after several years. Her comeback film Hungama 2 (2021) was released last year, while Nikamma, which she signed first as her comeback project, will be released this year. Shilpa took a trip down memory lane during the trailer launch event of the film, recalling her three-decade career in the film industry. She also thanked Shah Rukh Khan, her Baazigar (1993) co-star, for offering her advice on how to make it in Bollywood.
Shilpa, using an example from her debut Bollywood film Baazigar, said, "My journey has been a rollercoaster ride, full of highs and lows. Initially, mujhe Hindi bhi nahi aati thi. I learnt to read and write Urdu from Kader Bhai (Kader Khan). I used to forget my dialogues. I used to also always rush my lines. My co-star Shah Rukh Khan used to tell me to always look at the camera as if you are looking at the audience while performing. Even today, after so many films, I feel nervous to see the trailer of my film with the audience. But this nervousness is what keeps the actor in me alive."
Shilpa's forthcoming film Nikamma co-stars actress Bhagyashree’s son Abhimanyu Dassani and social media sensation Shirley Setia. Nikamma, directed by Sabbir Khan, is expected to be the year's biggest action film. The film will be released on June 17, 2022, by Sony Pictures International Productions.
