Sidharth Malhotra to front Karan Johar's action franchise Yodha
Dharma Productions’ Karan Johar, who on Wednesday teased film enthusiasts saying he will announce a new project on Thursday, once again took to the social media to raise the curtain on his first action franchise titled Yodha.
The hit filmmaker shared the first look teaser of the upcoming action drama which will star Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role. The film will be directed by debutant directors Pushkar Ojha and Sagar Ambre.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Johar shared the first look teaser of Yodha which shows Malhotra as a commando trying to save a crashing plane. He is injured but determined enough to save the people onboard.
Announcing the high-profile project, Johar wrote, “After conquering the peaks, I am proud to present Sidharth Malhotra back with power in the first of the action franchise by Dharma Productions, Yodha. Directed by the dynamic duo - Sagar Ambre & Pushkar Ojha. Landing in cinemas near you on 11th November, 2022.”
Interestingly, this is the same film which was supposed to star Shahid Kapoor and Disha Patani in the lead roles. Earlier, Shashank Khaitan was onboard to direct it. But the project had to be put on hold for some time due to some casting setbacks. Reportedly, Kapoor had opted out of the project due to creative differences.
While Johar has confirmed Sidharth Malhotra as the leading man of the franchise, there is no official announcement on the leading ladies of the film. However, some media outlets have reported that the film will star Disha Patani and Raashi Khanna in the lead.
