Sony Pictures India announces trilogy on iconic Indian superhero Shaktimaan - teaser unveiled!

The first Indian superhero Shaktimaan, played by veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, is all set to amaze us yet again with his superpowers, but this time on the silver screen! Yes, you read that absolutely right! Sony Pictures India on Thursday announced that it will bring the iconic superhero character back on big screens.

The studio has acquired the film adaptation rights of Shaktimaan to reimagine it as a superhero trilogy for the silver screen. It has partnered with Brewing Thoughts Private Limited and actor-producer Mukesh Khanna’s Bheeshm International to recreate the magic of Shaktimaan.

The studio even launched an exciting teaser of the major production that started trending on social media in absolutely no time. The teaser opens up with the visuals of a mammoth meteorite roaming around in space before it probably heads to hit the artificial satellite orbiting the earth. It then goes on to show the aerial view of Colaba in Mumbai covering the Gateway of India and the iconic The Taj Hotel. The stills of marine drive and the BSE building in Mumbai can also be seen in the teaser. This is followed by the quote, “As the darkness and evil prevail over humanity, it is time for him to return.”

Sony Pictures India tweeted, “After the super success of our many superhero films in India and all over the globe, it is time for our desi Superhero!”

Sony Pictures India further posted on its Twitter handle, “Sony Pictures International Productions is set to bring Shaktimaan to the big screen, and will recreate the magic of the iconic superhero, to be headlined by one of India’s superstars.”

While the production house has said that the role of Shaktimaan will be played by a leading film star, the identity of the actor has not been revealed by them yet.
