Sunanda Shetty, Shilpa Shetty's mother, granted bail in Rs 21 lakh loan default and defrauding case

A Metropolitan Magistrate's court in Andheri on Tuesday cancelled a bailable warrant and granted bail to Shilpa Shetty's mother, Sunanda, in connection with a cheating case, which came as a huge relief to Shilpa's family. In 2015, Parhad Amra, the owner of Mervin Automotive, claimed that a Shetty family firm had taken a Rs 21 lakh hand loan from him. However, after Shilpa's father Surendra Shetty died in 2016, the Shetty family allegedly refused to repay the loan.

Sunanda went to court on Tuesday and asked for the warrant to be revoked, which was issued by Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate RR Khan last month after she failed to appear for the case's hearing. Her application for bail was also accepted by the court. According to the Indian Express, the court granted her bail on a personal bond and surety of Rs 15,000 or a provisional cash bail of Rs 25,000.

The actress has accused the dealer of smear campaigns against her and her sister Shamita. Amra's complaint, according to the actress, is an "extortion mechanism" that threatens their "fame and public standing."

The court issued a complaint against the sisters and their mother on February 11 in response to Amra's accusation of criminal breach of trust and cheating. They were also summoned by the court. In March, the Shetty family filed a petition in Dindoshi Sessions Court, appealing the order.

Shilpa and her sister, Shamita, had been granted respite by the sessions court, which had ordered the proceedings against them to be stayed. The court, on the other hand, decided that Sunanda's case may go forward.
