Each film enthusiast's heart has been emptied by the name Sushant Singh Rajput. He was the epitome of a star. Be it his stunning performance as Ishaan in his debut movie ‘Kai Po Che’ or his remarkable on-screen transformation into’ M.S. Dhoni- The Untold Story’. Up to the day he made the decision to leave this planet, the actor was flawless. Sushant had a fantastic career graph, but because of his excessive commitments, he lost out on potentially much better box office prospects!

The majority of filmmakers, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aditya Chopra, Ekta Kapoor, Abhishek Kapoor, and others, made SSR, as he is affectionately known by everyone, their first option. SLB offered him four projects, but only one of them could be made, and the other three went to different performers.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali confirmed to police officials after Sushant Singh Rajput's passing that the actor had been given lead roles in his films ‘Ram Leela’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’, both of which were subsequently performed by Ranveer Singh. Additionally, Shahid Kapoor eventually accepted the part of Raja Ratan Singh in ‘Padmaavat’, which was offered to him. Sushant acknowledged leaving these flicks in an interview.
While talking to DNA, Sushant was quoted as, “I was doing many films and they are all releasing now. (Laughs) I don’t want to name them. What happens is, when I give my word to someone, and he’s delaying (not because he wants to, but because of a particular reason) and I get to understand it, I won’t ditch. So be it the biggest film with the biggest studio or the smallest film, I won’t leave another film. So unfortunately, because of the two films that I was doing and that didn’t happen, I lost out on 12 films in the last one year. One film didn’t happen and the other was put off by a few months. And these films are the films that we generally talk about these days. Let’s not get into all that.”
While Sushant gave a lot of time in his career to transform into ‘M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story’, the film which got made after a lot of delays, was Dinesh Vijan’s Raabta where he starred opposite Kriti Sanon. The film, which never got made, was the highly ambitious project by Shekhar Kapur – ‘Paani’. It was then backed by Yash Raj Films but the film demanded a budget of over 150 crores, and according to several reports, the producers didn’t feel Sushant could pull off that big a budget!
Other notable films Sushant Singh Rajput missed out on included his mentor Abhishek Kapoor's ‘Fitoor’, in which Aditya Kapoor replaced him, ‘Half Girlfriend’, in which Arjun Kapoor replaced him, ‘Kabir Singh’, in which Shahid Kapoor replaced him, ‘Befikre’, in which Ranveer Singh replaced him, and ‘Romeo Akbar Walter’, in which John Abraham replaced him. The majority of these films had to be abandoned by the ‘Kedarnath’ actor due to his preoccupied dates with ‘Paani’, which never transpired!
Sushant Singh Rajput still had to become a box office sensation and a proud member of the 300 crore club if he had appeared in all of the Bhansali flicks.

Sushant is sorely missed. Only Shah Rukh Khan and Vidya Balan have achieved this in their careers: the boy who controlled the TV screen as Maanav in ‘Pavitra Rishta’ later became a celebrity on the silver screen!
