‘Thank you for all the love,’ says Janhvi Kapoor after Mili's release
Janhvi Kapoor-starrer survival thriller Mili hit the theatres yesterday (November 04, 2022). The film follows the story of Mili Naudiyal (played by Janhvi), a 24-year-old graduate in BSc Nursing, who gets stuck in a freezer and has to fight to survive.
Earlier slated for an OTT release, Mili has grossed between Rs 45-65 lakh on the first day of release (as per reports). Critics have also praised Janhvi's performance, calling it the biggest highlight of the film.
Overwhelmed by all the love from fans and critics, Janhvi on Saturday took to Instagram and expressed her gratitude to all. Posting a pic of all the star-ratings of Mili, she wrote on Instagram, "Thank you for all the love. Watch #Mili now in cinemas near you."
Directed by Mathukutty Xavier, the film is an official Hindi remake of Xavier's own 2019 Malayalam film Helen. Produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios, the film also stars Sunny Kaushal, Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa and Sanjay Suri.
Noteworthy, the scenes depicting Mili stuck in a freezer were shot in an actual freezer. Janhvi underwent "intense preparation" to portray her character, and said the filming process affected her both "physically and mentally".
While the positive word-of-mouth and critical appreciation will definitely boost Mili's box office prospects in the coming days, it is to be seen how the movie fares with Phone Bhoot, Double XL and even Kantara giving it tough competition.
