The creators of the Tamil neo-noir action thriller Aaranya Kaandam (2010) announced on Monday that it will be adapted into Hindi. Ajay Bahl, best known for the 2012 film, B.A Pass, will helm the adaptation, which is now in pre-production.
Ramesh Taurani took to his social media to share the news. He wrote the caption, “Finally, a Hindi adaptation of Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Aaranya Kaandam is in pre-production. Producers rameshtaurani (Tips Industries) and
Aaranya Kaandam entered a new era in Tamil film and received widespread acclaim. The filmmakers are sure that the adaptation will achieve the same cult status as the original film in Hindi cinema.
Aaranya Kaandam, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, depicts the lives of six people played by Jackie Shroff, Ravi Krishna, Sampath Raj, Yasmin Ponnappa, Guru Somasundaram, and Master Vasanth over the course of a day.
The film had its international premiere at the South Asian International Film Festival, where it received the Grand Jury Award for Best Film, prior to its release. Following that, the film received two National Film Awards, one for Best Editing and the other for Best First Film of a Director.
