Everyone is talking about Sudipto Sen's film ‘The Kerala Story’. Before it was released, the movie was embroiled in controversy. Many demanded that it be banned, referring to it as propaganda. Three ladies from Kerala are brainwashed and converted to Islam in the story, which features Adah Sharma in a prominent role. They are then brought to ISIS to join. The film's creators asserted that it is based on actual events, which sparked debate. Shashi Tharoor himself offered an opinion. The movie was approved by the Supreme Court, and it opened in theatres.

The Vipul Amrutlal Shah-produced film ‘The Kerala Story’ had a successful theatrical debut. The movie is now 2023's fifth-highest-grossing movie. Adah Sharma is quite pleased with the reception the movie has gotten. She conveyed her gratitude to everyone on Twitter. She described earning a standing ovation and packed theatres in her writing.
Adah Sharma also addressed individuals who continue to refer to it as a propaganda film in the following tweet. She advised those who were still opposed to do an internet search for the words ISIS and bride. She claimed that if more white females told their stories, people would be persuaded that ‘The Kerala Story’ is based on real events.

‘The Kerala Story’ was able to earn Rs 8.03 crore on its first day of release. It comes in behind ‘Pathaan’, ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’, ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’, and ‘Bholaa’ as the year's fifth-highest grossing movie. The storyline and presentation of the movie have drawn mixed reactions from online users, despite some critics giving it positive ratings.
