Throwback Thursday: When Journalists Called Deepika Padukone 'Priyanka Chopra' At The Met Gala; Here’s How She Reacted!

Deepika Padukone is a popular and versatile actress who has worked in the industry for over a decade and a half. She rose to prominence in the film industry. Throughout her incredible career, the actress has been in various popular films and has been a part of Hollywood films. Her most recent appearance was at the 95th Academy Awards.

She has always been loved by some and despised by her contemporaries' fan clubs. Nonetheless, the actress accepts everything with a grain of salt and smiles through the shaming and bullying. In a genuine incident of mistaken identity, Deepika Padukone was mistaken for Priyanka Chopra.

During her Met Gala 2019 appearance, the actress was mistaken for Mrs. Priyanka Chopra Jonas. However, it was Deepika's calm temperament and cool attitude that allowed her to deal with the mistake with a discreet smile. Deepika wore a stunning pink gown and competed with Barbie. Her appearance was praised by all, but her appearance was cut short by fans and media who continued to refer to her as Priyanka.

Deepika Padukone was led to her car while fans and journalists shouted at Priyanka in the background, according to an Instagram user. Deepika does not respond and continues with a smile.

This was not the first time Deepika Padukone was misidentified as Priyanka Chopra. When DP was promoting her Hollywood first film 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage' starring Vin Diesel in 2017, a journalist kept calling her Priyanka.

Deepika responded to the event in an interview, saying, "To me, it's racist and ignorant." And as a fellow Indian, you (the media) should be upset as well. I believe that just because two people have similar skin tones does not imply that they are the same person. Instead of generating a tabloid piece of it, those in positions of influence in the media should be educating them more."

Deepika Padukone is currently enjoying the success of her action film ‘Pathaan’. She is getting ready to star in ‘Fighter’ alongside Hrithik Roshan. She will also appear alongside Prabhas in Nag Ashwin's Sci-Fi ‘Project K’ after which she may begin work on a remake of ‘The Intern’ with Amitabh Bachchan.
