Uunchai will have limited screen release; to be distributed by Yash Raj Films
Seven years after Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, ace filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya is back again with the upcoming film Uunchai. A family drama based on friendship between senior citizens, the film has been produced by Rajshri Productions in collaboration with Boundless Media and Mahaveer Jain Films.
While the trailer of Uunchai has definitely piqued the curiosity of viewers, there is another interesting development about the film that has recently surfaced.
As per reports, Yash Raj Films will be distributing Uunchai in India and overseas. Furthermore, the film will have a limited screen release and will be put up only on selected theatres.
“Yash Raj Films will distribute Uunchai in India and abroad. This is going to be the first time that the production house will release a film made under the banner of Rajshri Productions in domestic markets,” said a source close to the development.
The same source added, "YRF will distribute Uunchai internationally too. In India, except for Nizam, CP Berar, CI and Orissa, YRF will distribute the film everywhere else in the country. In these four region, Uunchai will be released by Rajshri's own team."
As for the limited screen release, the source said that Uunchai will release in around 600-700 screens domestically in the first week. However, depending on demand and the positive word-of-mouth publicity, the number might be increased in the following weeks.
Presenting an ensemble starcast including Parineeti Chopra, Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Neena Gupta, Sarika and Danny Denzongpa, Uunchai is all set to hit the theatres on 11 November 2022.
