Pan-Indian sensation Vijay Deverakonda made headlines when he showed up to the grand premiere of his film Liger in Mumbai wearing a pair of desi Chappals. He merely donned a plain T-shirt, a pair of cargo pants, and the infamous "chappals," while his lead actress Ananya Panday looked stunning in a black cut-out gown. Vijay's swag was noticed by both the audience and the other celebrities on stage. Ranveer Singh, who attended the event as a special guest, noted that Vijay's all-dress-down appearance gave the impression that his movie was being launched while he was the chief guest.
Now, the actor's stylist addressed the idea of getting Vijay to wear chappals to the occasion. The actor's stylist, Harmann, said to a news outlet that many brands wanted to dress up Vijay for the occasion, and that she herself was quite excited about it. But in the end, it was the Arjun Reddy (2017) actor who made them feel powerless.
To establish a connection with the audience, Vijay reportedly told Harmann that he wanted to dress exactly as his on-screen character does. Vijay wanted to downplay everything, even the footwear, according to the stylist, which is why he opted to wear a Rs 199 chappal for a film with a budget of crores.
Helmed by Puri Jagannadh, Liger is slated to release on August 25.
