Directed by Pushkar and Gayathri, Vikram Vedha stars Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan, and Radhika Apte in lead roles. The film is a Hindi remake of the Tamil film under the same name. The Tamil version however starred R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupati in the lead roles. Recently, there were media rumours making the rounds on social media claiming that the producers had a schedule set up in UP and were eager to shoot the movie in the state's lanes. Vikram Vedha's budget, however, was doubled as a result of Hrithik's insistence that the film's directors construct opulent sets in Dubai rather than allow him to film in Uttar Pradesh. Reliance Entertainment, which is co-producing the movie, responded to the rumours by issuing a formal statement and labelling them as "untrue."
The statement read, "We have been noticing a lot of misleading and totally unsubstantiated reporting on Vikram Vedha shoot locations. We clearly want to state that Vikram Vedha has been shot extensively in India, including Lucknow. A portion of the film was shot in the United Arab Emirates in October-November of 2021 since it was the only location providing infrastructure for a bio-bubble that accommodated a crew of such scale, also allowing the building of sets in a studio during the preceding months of the shoot. We chose to do that out of health and protocol concerns. Any attempts to twist this set of facts are clearly mischievous and untruthful. Also, we would like to emphatically state that at Reliance Entertainment while we welcome suggestions from the creative talent, the production and budgetary decisions are a centralized prerogative."
The action-packed crime thriller Vikram Vedha, which is based on the Indian folktale "Vikram Aur Betal," follows a tough police officer as he sets out to find and pursue a dangerous thug. The flick also stars Rohit Saraf, Yogita Bihani and Satyadeep Mishra in supporting roles. Vikram Vedha is slated to release on September 30, 2022.
