Vinod Mehra's wife shares shocking details about his affair with Rekha

We have seen several love stories blossoming in Bollywood. While some of them stood the test of time and thrived beautifully, others failed to come to fruition for a variety of reasons. One of the most much-talked-about affairs of Hindi cinema which never culminated into marriage was between yesteryear stars Vinod Mehra and Rekha.

Mehra's wife Kiran Mehra recently opened up about a number of topics in an interview with a leading publication where she also talked candidly about his late husband and his affair with Rekha.

For the uninitiated, the duo tied the knot in 1988 against the wish of Kiran's father. Mehra was 20 years older than her, something that did not go down well with her father who tried everything in his capacity to take her daughter out of the country but in vain.

Talking about the same, Kiran told the publication, "Stories come and go. But look, we were not from the industry. Moreover, India was not my home. And, the youngest daughter of the family wanted to marry a man who was 20 years older than her! My father's concern was justified."

When asked about the infamous affair between Vinod Mehra and Rekha, she said, "Let me tell you that the person who remained in his life till his end is Rekha. She was like a family member and I still look up to her as a friend. Rekha is a wonderful person, very loving and forgiving. She even attended our marriage. If I meet her today, I will give her the tightest hug. I know her mother and sisters. I am not comparing myself to someone who's so high up there- but actually, Rekha and I are very similar."

Vinod Mehra, known for delivering several successful films in his career, died at the age of 45 due to a heart attack.
