Deepika Padukone is one of the highest paid actresses in Bollywood. She was most recently seen in Dharma Productions’ Gehraiyaan (2022) and won rave reviews for her intense performance in the film. Directed by Shakun Batra, the film also featured Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa on the cast.
Gehraiyaan had a direct-to-digital release on Amazon Prime Video, bypassing a theatrical release due to the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic, fuelled by the Omicron variant. If reports are to be believed, the film was on a budget of ₹70 crores and producer Karan Johar sold it to the streaming media giant for a whopping ₹100 crores, thus making a clear profit of ₹30 crores on his investment.
Padukone, who has been in high demand in Bollywood for several years now, took home a fatty paycheque for her performance in the film. As per some reports, she received an amount of around ₹20 crores as her remuneration.
Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone is presently busy wrapping up her much-anticipated film Pathaan, which reunites her with superstar Shah Rukh Khan after a huge gap of eight years. The action thriller also stars John Abraham in the lead role. Made under the banner of Yash Raj Films, Pathaan arrives in cinemas on January 25, 2023.
