'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' is without a doubt one of the most adored young-adult films in Hindi cinematic history. However, the casting process for the film was rather unique and is said to have raised some issues inside the business.

Initially, there were rumours that Deepika Padukone was hesitant to accept the movie due to scheduling conflicts, thus Anushka Sharma was offered the main part. However, everything changed when Deepika finally decided to agree to star in the movie alongside Ranbir Kapoor, and their on-screen chemistry proved to be a huge success, turning the film into a historic hit. As a result, Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor decided to collaborate on the films 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' and 'Bombay Velvet.'
Despite working together on professional projects, it appeared that things between Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone were not going well. In an interview, Anushka sounded a stern warning and warned that Deepika might be playing tricks on her. She spoke out in front of the camera, denying the floating rumours and expressing her annoyance at being fired from 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.' Anushka claimed that while Deepika was the pick of Ayan Mukerji and other filmmakers, she was the preferred choice of Anurag Kashyap and Rajkumar Hirani.
Anushka Sharma addressed remarks made about her resemblance to Deepika Padukone in the same interview. She emphasised that as they worked on various genres of films, there was no justification for such comparisons. Anushka claimed that while she had been picky about the roles she accepted, Deepika had been more prolific in her film selections.
It's interesting to note that Deepika Padukone once claimed to be friends with her coworkers, including Anushka, on the talk show 'Koffee with Karan' in 2014. Even Karan Johar expressed the opinion that it could be a stretch to refer to Deepika Sharma as a buddy in response to this claim.
Regarding their ongoing projects, Deepika Padukone is supposedly working on several films, including 'Fighter,' 'Project K', The Intern adaptation, and Rohit Shetty's female cop movie, while Anushka Sharma is apparently working on the biopic of cricketer Jhulan Goswami.
In conclusion, despite the fact that 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' represented a big turning point for Bollywood, Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone's friendship appears to have been strained as a result of the casting process.
