Kareena and Karisma Kapoor always had a close relationship, as evidenced by their multiple interviews and pictures on Instagram. They're also very protective of one another, and Kareena once said on Simi Garewal's show that it broke her soul to see her sister unhappy.
Kareena recalls Karisma's struggles in the film industry and how no one in the family supported her on Rendezvous with Simi Garewal in the early 2000s. Kareena explained further when Simi was perplexed as to why the terms hardships were used when Karisma had the Kapoor title behind her. She said, “There was no one who really supported her in this decision. The only one who supported and inspired her was my mother. I’ve seen the two of them struggle from pillar to post. I’ve seen her sit up with my mother and cry, saying that she would never make it, and people would put her down.”
She further added “ I would hide behind and watch because they never wanted me to see their pain. I’ve seen too much. As a child, I’ve seen a lot, with my mother and sister. I’ve lived their lives with them. I’ve seen my sister cry for nights together, to go to sleep. That hurts me. Anything that hurts my loved ones, hurts me.” Kareena says that she has learned a lot from her mom and sister, which led her to join the film industry in the first place. Well, she also says that she wanted to be a lawyer which made her family worry, but she came out of that phase eventually. She also says that her entire family was excited as Kareena was the first person to attend Harvard University. She recalls saying “Everyone over-reacted, because Kapoor girl is in Harvard, as everyone else had failed the eighth standard.”
