Rani Mukerji and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were once good friends. However, it was after an alleged fight between Aishwarya's then-boyfriend Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, but on the sets of Chalte Chalte. As a matter of fact, things went horribly wrong when Shah Rukh, who is also the film's producer, had Aishwarya handled by her good friend Rani Mukerji. She was upset and felt abandoned at the time. In the interview, Rani said, “It's just a coincidence.”
The damage, however, had been done. Her bond with Aishwarya already had suffered a setback. Following the loss of Chalte Chalte, Aishwarya made her end things with Salman public and made a vow never to collaborate with him again, according to BollywoodLife.
When asked in an interview about Salman Khan she clearly said “ For the sake of my well-being, my sanity, my dignity and the dignity and self-respect of my family -- ENOUGH! I will not work with Mr. Salman Khan. The Salman chapter was a nightmare in my life and I am thankful to God that it is over. That is why like any other self-respecting woman and God is witness, I said enough and ended it almost two years ago but because of dignified silence, all have misrepresented my stand and spread rumors about my character and baselessly alleged affairs and tried to spoil healthy working relations with costars. I do not want to get into the gory details and obnoxious experiences, which incite washing dirty linen and other ugly untruths.”
