When Sunny Deol's Comment On Wedding Performances Didn’t Stop Shah Rukh Khan And Katrina Kaif From Earning Big; ‘Only Mujrawalis Dance..’

Sunny Deol is a quiet person. Therefore, everything he says is carefully listened to and painstakingly recalled. It's interesting that anytime Sunny Deol wanted to talk, he would always say something that could almost be considered disparaging. Bollywood stars dancing at weddings was one of the statements made by the ‘Gadar’ actor, and Deol Sahab labeled such stars in the most degrading terms.

The ‘Gadar’ actor stated during one of his appearances on a show that he does not think celebrities should dance at weddings! He explained his point by saying, “You lose dignity when you dance at others’ weddings. Though it has now become a fashion, I believe that one loses self-respect.” The actor's concerns extended beyond just maintaining his or her dignity. He also offered his opinions on how performers ought to behave properly.

The actor once appeared on Rajat Sharma's program ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ and said, “We are actors, not people doing ‘tamasha’,” he further said, “An actor is known for acting, and not for doing all these things. If invited, you go to a wedding, wish the couple, but not beyond that.” What you read, however, is simply a toned-down version of the actor's ideas.

In a 2001 interview with Filmfare, Sunny Deol expressed even stranger ideas regarding actors dancing at weddings. He stated: “Only mujrawalis dance at weddings, not actors. I think actors should maintain their dignity. Dancing at a friend’s wedding is okay, but getting paid to dance is cheap.”It's interesting to note that at Dharmendra's grandson Karan Deol's wedding recently, Ranveer Singh gave it all he had. But we can be certain that it was a welcome sight.

Shah Rukh Khan, on the other hand, is said to demand a staggering 8 crores to dance at weddings, while Katrina Kaif is said to charge 3.5 crores, as per a 2022 report. Akshay Kumar charges 2.5 crores for a performance and 1.5 crores for wedding appearances. Ranveer Singh also demands between Rs 1 and Rs 5 Cr for these performances!

In contrast to Sunny Deol, who abhors celebrities dancing at weddings, Akshay Kumar claimed on a ‘Koffee with Karan’ episode that he advised Ranveer Singh to charge for every event, no matter how little or big! He was heard uttering, “Mujhe dekh, shaadi hai main naach raha hun. Mundan hai, baccha ro raha hai, phir bhi main naach raha hun.”
