South megastar Prabhas, who became a household name after starring in Baahubali franchise, is looking forward to his upcoming film Adipurush in which he plays the role of Lord Rama. The magnum opus may prove to be yet another blockbuster in the actor's career as it is being made on a massive scale.
As per latest reports, Adipurush will be Prabhas's costliest film till date, with a jaw-dropping budget of Rs.500 crore, surpassing his Baahubali franchise. Notably, the budget excludes expenditure for print and publicity.
With the budget of over US$66 million as per International calculation, Adipurush will also become one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.
Confirming the news, producer Bhushan Kumar told a leading entertainment portal, “Adipurush is made on a budget of Rs 500 crore. For that film, we know that the opening will be giant with houseful board across. So, we will try to optimise the demand for the film by going ahead with blockbuster pricing. We know people will come to see it irrespective of pricing as it is a one-off it’s kind event cinema and there is only limited capacity. So, we would make sure, to go all out with this film.”
Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana. The film is produced by T-Series Films and Retrophiles.
Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages, Adipurush is scheduled for theatrical release in Hindi and Telugu along with its dubbed versions in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada on 12 January 2023.
