Yami Gautam has been a part of some memorable films in a career that spans slightly over a decade. The 34-year-old, who debuted alongside Ayushmann Khurrana in Shoojit Sircar's 'Vicky Donor' (2012), had two releases last year which got her immense critical acclaim.
Her first film in 2022 was Behzad Khambata's psychological thriller 'A Thursday', which also featured Neha Dhupia, Karanvir Sharma and Atul Kulkarni. Gautam played the lead role of Naina Jaiswal, a play-school teacher who one fine day takes 16 children as hostages.
The 'Bala' (2019) actress was praised by critics, some of whom termed her act as her "career's best performance". Audiences too felt that Yami's portrayal of Naina was "equal parts dangerous and vulnerable, daring and conflicted."
And as the film completes one year of its release, there are reports claiming that 'A Thursday' is all set to get a sequel, which is on the cards. However, there's no official confirmation regarding the same.
Interestingly, Yami recently opened up about her role in 'A Thursday' and said that it was one of her "most heaviest film roles".
"Cinema is such a powerful medium. And if you get a script which in its own unique way is engaging you as an audience, then these scripts stand out and for me. When 'A Thursday' came to me, I felt exactly that. It is more than just a film and more than just a role.”
While we are certainly glad over the news of 'A Thursday' getting a sequel, we hope that the makers too release an official statement soon and confirm the news- much to everybody's joy!
