All of the key characters, including Naina (Deepika Padukone), Bunny/Kabir (Ranbir Kapoor), Aditi (Kalki Koechlin), and Avi (Aditya Roy Kapur), have their own fan bases. Ayan Mukerji appears to have had a tale ready but was distracted by Brahmastra. He stated that it would occur ten years after the original story.

Ranbir Kapoor was asked in a virtual chat session which movie, other than Brahmastra, he thought would make a worthy sequel. He predicted ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’. He stated that Ayan Mukerji has an interesting story in mind.
However, it appears that he began working on Brahmastra. "But, never say never," Ranbir Kapoor was quoted as adding. He might be able to make it after a few years." He stated that the film would be set ten years in the future, allowing viewers to see where the major characters are in their lives.
