As expected, Tamil superstar Vijay Thalapathy’s Beast has created a rage at the box office on the first day of its release. The much-awaited movie has finally been released and audiences cannot keep calm. The response in the south Indian states has been truly phenomenal.
In Tamil Nadu, the first shows of the film started as early as 4 am. The film also saw a huge opening in Kerala and Karnataka, owing to Vijay’s significant fan following there. Moreover, Beast has also managed to garner good numbers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as well.
Coming to day 1 collection, Beast has collected a whopping Rs. 26.40 crore at the ticket window in just the state of Tamil Nadu alone. The film, directed by Nelson, is now facing a clash with Yash starrer KGF 2 at the Box Office.
Interestingly, Beast made a new day one collection record in Tamil Nadu, with Vijay surpassing the record of his own movie Sarkar (2018).
The film has emerged as the second-best opener for Vijay and the fifth-highest opener in Tamil Nadu. However, some trade analysts are of the opinion that Beast could’ve done much better in the other southern states but its run was hampered due to negative reviews. And with KGF Chapter 2 releasing today, the collection of Beast may further see a downwards trend.
Written and directed by Nelson and produced by Sun Pictures, Beast stars Vijay and Pooja Hegde, while Selvaraghavan, Shine Tom Chacko, Yogi Babu and Redin Kingsley play supporting roles. It revolves around an ex-RAW agent's crusade to rescue people held hostage in a shopping mall by terrorists.
