Two of Kollywood's biggest actors, Ajith Kumar and Thalapathy Vijay, arrived with their respective flicks, Thunivu and Varisu, and there was a fiesta in theatres all around Tamil Nadu. From midnight on, there were street parties as eager fans awaited the arrival of their favorite celebrity on the big screen. While Thunivu started screening at 1 am, Varisu had its state premiere at 4.30 am. The occupancy for the two movies ranged from 85 to 90% throughout the day, and on the first day of release, there were no signs that things would calm down. They recorded sold-out gigs across the state in advance because of the buzz surrounding the two movies.
According to estimates, Varisu has managed to earn between Rs 21 and Rs 23 crore in India, with the Tamil version of the film garnering a mixed reception from the public. Thunivu, however, is believed to bring in Rs 22.5 crore. Thunivu received premium screens around the state thanks to producers Boney Kapoor, Zee Studios, and Red Giant Films. The number of theatres and performances in both Varisu and Thunivu are similar, but Thunivu has been able to acquire theatres with larger screens and better ticketing systems, giving it a larger capacity than Varisu.
Thunivu
Boney Kapoor is the producer of H Vinoth's film Thunivu. Samuthirakani, Manju Warrier, Pavani Reddy, John Kokken, Mamathi Chari, Veera, and Bagavathi Perumal play supporting roles alongside Ajith Kumar, Manju Warrier, and the others. Radha, a notorious mobster, is the focus of Thunivu's story. He and his men prepare to rob one of Chennai's largest banks, but they soon learn that another gang, led by a strange figure known only as "Dark Devil," has already taken over the institution.
Varisu
The popular Telugu director Vamshi Paidipally is behind the camera of the eagerly awaited family comedy, which stars Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. Vijay's film, which also features Rashmika Mandanna, has captured the hearts of millions. The protagonist of Varisu is a man who is the son of a billionaire businessman. Under certain tough circumstances, he is obliged to take over his father's company.
