The last Friday (November 04) saw three Hindi film releases viz. Katrina Kaif, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khatter's 'Phone Bhoot', Janhvi Kapoor and Sunny Kaushal's 'Mili' and Sonakshi Sinha-Huma Qureshi starrer 'Double XL'.
If current trends are considered, then 'Phone Bhoot' is doing better than the other two films. While the progress and pace of all the three films are very slow, the horror comedy is way ahead when it comes to box office numbers.
'Phone Bhoot' had a low start with just Rs 1.75-2 crore nett on day one. On the second day, there was a slight upward increase in the figures as the film minted Rs 2.05 crore.
This is still way better than the numbers of 'Mili', which raked in 45-65 lakh on first day of release. On day two, the figures were more or less stagnant as the survival drama could bag only Rs 60 lakh at the ticket windows.
The worst of the three has been 'Double XL', which has registered lowest occupancy of 10 percent and grossed a meager Rs 20 lakh on day one. The figure remained the same on day two and the gross total of the film now stands at Rs 30-40 lakh.
Meanwhile, dubbed Hindi version of the Kannada film 'Kantara' is doing much better than the recent Bollywood releases.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh also revealed that Kantara Hindi version has breached the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office and that it is a better performing film compared to 'Phone Bhoot', 'Mili' and 'Double XL'.
