On February 17, Shehzada was released on the silver screens amid much anticipation from the audience. However, the movie fell flat with the crowd, and critics had conflicting opinions about it as well. Kartik Aaryan and his films always rule the theatres as well as audiences' hearts but his film Shehzada isn't quite receiving the royal treatment that industry analysts anticipated. It looks like, after a not-so-great Day 1 & 2 at the box office, the film gave light hopes and managed to pull the crowd on its first Sunday.
Day wise collections
The movie, in which Kriti Sanon also stars, got off to a rocky start, earning just Rs 6 crore on opening day and about Rs 6.50 crore on day two. According to reports, the movie saw a little increase of Rs 7.30 crore on Day 3, bringing its opening weekend earnings to about Rs 19.95 crore. This is a setback for Kartik Aaryan, whose previous movie, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, had a first-weekend gross of almost Rs 55 crore.
By one get one free offer failed?
The movie received absolutely no profit from the Buy-One-Get-One-Free ticket offer, and it is still uncertain whether it will still be playing the following week. Shehzada also had to compete with Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, which is still doing well at the box office and is getting close to joining the Rs 1000 crore club at the international box office. Pathaan is in its fourth week of release. The film is also facing tough from the Hollywood film, Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly. The film is doing extremely well in Indian theatres.
