Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness rakes in a whopping Rs 27.5 cr in India on Day 1
On its opening day (May 06), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) starring Benedict Cumberbatch has minted Rs 27.5 crore in India. The film's advance booking, which began in the first week of April, had also raked in Rs 10 crore.
The box office collection of the film was confirmed by trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter.
Noteworthy, the overall opening of the film is the fourth best among Hollywood films, after Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Avengers: Infinity War.
For starters, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is an American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics featuring the character Doctor Strange. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the sequel to Doctor Strange (2016) and the 28th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Directed by Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness starts from where Stephen Strange opened up the multiverse in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the film, Strange will be seen joining old and new allies, as he ventures to face a new nemesis in the multiverse.
