In its opening weekend, 'Dream Girl 2' shattered records as Ayushmann Khurrana's biggest opener. The film, which also stars Ananya Panday, raked in an impressive collection of Rs 40 crore. While the movie managed to maintain its intrigue on the following Monday, there was a notable decline in collections since Sunday, specifically on August 27.
According to initial estimates, the movie earned approximately Rs 4.70 crore on Monday, bringing its total collection to Rs 45 crore. This decline in Monday's collection follows a remarkable Sunday where the film earned between Rs 15-16 crore. Despite this drop, should the movie's momentum persist, it is likely to surpass the Rs 50 crore mark soon. This achievement would be prior to the release of 'Jawan', Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film scheduled to hit theaters next week.
Coinciding with the film's release, Ayushmann Khurrana took a moment to reflect on his late father, expressing how much he misses him. He fondly remembered that his father held a special affection for his earlier movie 'Dream Girl' and was exceedingly proud of Ayushmann's role in it. "He laughed his heart out while watching the film, and even predicted that it would be a roaring success. I wish he could have watched 'Dream Girl 2' as well," he said.
Khurrana went on to share his belief that his father would have thoroughly enjoyed the sequel. "His laughter was infectious and he was my greatest supporter. I owe so much of who I am today to his unwavering faith in me," he further added.
Notably, 'Dream Girl 2' boasts a star-studded cast, featuring not only Khurrana and Panday but also acting veterans like Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz, Asrani, Abhishek Banerjee, Manjot Singh, and Seema Pahwa. Each of these talented actors plays a crucial role in the movie's ensemble.
