Fukrey Returns takes the box-office by storm; records an opening of Rs. 8.10 crores

Fukrey Returns , starring an ensemble cast of Pulkit Samrat, Richa Chadha , Varun Sharma , Manjot Singh , Ali Fazal and Pankaj Tripathi , has done the unthinkable! The film was expected to open on a decent note simply because it was a sequel to Fukrey, which had performed well upon its release in 2013. But no one had thought that the sequel, which comes out after five years of the original, would rake in such humongous amount on its opening day. Exceeding all expectations, Fukrey Returns has minted a whopping Rs. 8.10 crores on day 1. It is indeed an impressive collection for a medium-budgeted film like this.
The sleeper success of Fukrey had turned the film into a brand, which prompted the makers to come up with its sequel. Benefitting a lot from the brand value of Fukrey, Fukrey Returns has put up an impressive show for all the stakeholders involved. While Fukrey had earned just Rs. 2.62 crores on its opening day, Fukrey Returns has collected an amount which is not very less than what Fukrey had earned over the weekend. Fukrey has made Rs. 9.82 crores over its first weekend, while, going by the response the sequel has generated, it won't be an exaggeration to say that Fukrey Returns might go on to earn around Rs. 30 crores over the weekend. Let's wait and watch.
