The movie has surpassed the opening day collections of Khan's previous film, ‘Pathaan’, and has become the biggest debut ever for a Hindi-language film. According to industry sources like Sacnilk, ‘Jawan’, raked in approximately Rs 75 crore on its first day of release. Out of this, roughly Rs 65 crore came from the Hindi version, while the remaining Rs 10 crore came from the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions of the film.

Notably, ‘Jawan’ has achieved the remarkable feat of being the first Hindi film to cross the Rs 60 crore mark on its opening day. This achievement was partly boosted by the film's release coinciding with the Janamashtmi festival, and it's expected that the film's earnings will continue to soar over the weekend.
Jawan Vs Pathaan
For comparison, ‘Pathaan’, which was released earlier in the year, had an opening day collection of Rs 57 crore. However, it picked up momentum and eventually concluded its run with a massive Rs 543 crore, setting a record that might soon be challenged by the eagerly anticipated ‘Gadar 2’, which currently stands at around Rs 510 crore.
In terms of occupancy, ‘Jawan’ recorded an impressive 58% across India on its opening day, with night shows reporting a 69% occupancy and morning shows at 54%. These figures are specific to the Hindi version, which is also being screened in South Indian states. Chennai boasted the highest occupancy, with a remarkable 81%, while Mumbai recorded 55%, and the NCR region had a slightly higher occupancy rate at 60%. Other major cities like Hyderabad and Kolkata reported occupancies of 75% and 73%, respectively.
‘Jawan’ In Tamil Language
The Tamil-language showings of ‘Jawan’ achieved a strong 70% occupancy during the nighttime, and IMAX presentations had an overall occupancy rate of 61%. Globally, the film was released on approximately 10,000 screens. Industry experts predict that "Jawan" is likely to gross at least Rs 45 crore globally on its first day, pushing its opening day total to around Rs 130 crore, taking into account an estimated India gross of Rs 85 crore.

Furthermore, ‘Jawan’ has not only garnered substantial pre-sales but has also secured its position as the fourth-biggest opener in the history of Indian cinema. It trails behind only ‘RRR’ (Rs 223.5 crore), ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ (Rs 214.5 crore), and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ (Rs 164.5 crores) in terms of opening day collections.
