September 13 release, Ahishor Solomon 's directorial ' John Day ' looked as a contemplative thriller by glancing at its dark promos. However, the reality was a bit different, as the film lacked entertainment and brooding action that are the essential ingredient to call a film as a thriller. ' John Day ' featured Naseeruddin Shah and Randeep Hooda in key roles and offered nothing fascinating to the viewers apart from being a blood-flooded vendetta.
The fresh reports stated that ' John Day ' received a disastrous response during the first weekend of its release and it was a complete washout. The movie proved as a big disappointment, as it could gain just around 45 lakhs on Friday, while on Saturday, it showed a slight improvement by achieving snowballing approximately 60 lakhs, reportedly. Hence, the hitherto total earnings of ' John Day ' at the domestic box office can be summed up to around 1.05 crore nett. It seems the viewers could not digest the poorly executed content in the flick and therefore, preferred to stay away from it. Moreover, the other releases like the adult comedy ' Grand Masti ' and bone-numbing ' Horror Story ' that hit the screens on the same day as that of ' John Day ', hindered the further path of the film.
In all, ' John Day ' turned out to be an overall dull affair performing below the expectations.
