First Weekend Box Office Collection of 'The Smurfs 2' in India

The 3D American flick \'The Smurfs 2\' released on August 2 and reported Indian box office collection of around 5.40 crore nett on its first day of release.

Post the triumph of the original film 'The Smurfs', the Hollywood filmmakers landed with its second installment - 'The Smurfs 2', which released on August 2. Following the trend, Hollywood releases have always witnessed golden days at Indian box office. The little creatures are back to woo the viewers by their magic. In this American 3D film, the movie shows kidnap of Smurfette at the hands of Gargamel, leaving behind the other smurfs like Papa, Grouchy, Clumsy and Vanity to rescue her. 'The Smurfs 2' also bears a Hindi song, 'Na Na Na' in its dubbed Hindi version.

Directed by Raja Gosnell and produced by Jordan Kerner, 'The Smurfs 2' is created with around the budget of $105 million. This animated wonder packed in the movie form has its roots dipped in The Smurfs comic-book series, developed by the Belgian comics artist Peyo. This Hollywood flick rocked at the Indian box office with its first day collection of around 5.40 crore nett. The weekend collection of this flick is yet unknown.

This 'smurfastic' marvel is paving the path for its first week performance at the Indian box office. One more Hollywood flick titled 'The Conjuring' released on August 2 along with the other Bollywood releases, such as ' Rabba Main Kya Karoon ' and ' B.A. Pass '.
