Making its debut on the big screen on August 28, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ has successfully surpassed the Rs 150 crore mark at the domestic box office after a month of its premiere. Despite facing competition from various new releases, the film, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, has managed to stand out as a box office triumph. At the conclusion of its fourth weekend, the movie's cumulative earnings amounted to Rs 149.75 crore, according to trade analyst Ramesh Bala.
Commencing with an opening collection of Rs 11.1 crore, as reported by Sacnilk, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ progressively gained momentum in the following days, solidifying its status as a bona fide hit at the box office. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala utilized his X account to disseminate the latest collection figures for the film. He highlighted the exceptional overseas performance of this family drama. Globally, the film has amassed a cumulative collection of Rs 340 crore within a month of its release.
While facing competition from other major releases, the business of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ did experience a slowdown. This occurred following the theatrical release of ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘OMG 2’ on August 11. Nonetheless, the film witnessed a surge in its box office performance on the occasion of Independence Day, August 15, raking in Rs 3.54 crore. As of now, it stands as the fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023, trailing only ‘Pathaan’, ‘Gadar 2’, and ‘The Kerala Story’.
Marking Alia Bhatt's return to the romantic-comedy genre, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ has demonstrated its box office prowess by garnering a domestic collection of Rs 149.53 crore. This achievement places it as Alia Bhatt's third-highest grossing film, following ‘RRR’ (Rs 772.1 crore) and ‘Brahmastra’ (Rs 268.56 crore), as per Sacnilk.
The film has not only become a significant milestone in Alia Bhatt's career but has also revived Ranveer Singh's box office fortunes. Breaking his streak of underperforming films such as ‘83’, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, and ‘Cirkus’, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ marks Ranveer Singh's first commercial success since the 2019 hit ‘Gully Boy’.
